Coupon Marketing: Attracting More Customers Every Day
The present day consumer does not act on impulse, rather thinks rationally before making his decision to invest in something. In the wake of this statement, many promotional tactics adopted by the companies fall flat. This is a digital world. As a customer, we always like to keep ourselves updated with the latest product news, competitive prices and freebies. So, it’s not easy to lure the consumer into buying something at the given price. A new approach is needed to create a positive influence because digital shoppers are looking for exciting and innovative ways to buy more for less.
In this world of cut-throat sales, the concept of coupon marketing is very new in the field of direct marketing. Coupons are an easy and convenient way to reach the potential customers. You can actually target a zone from where maximum returns are possible.
Take an example of pizza coupons. When a customer orders a pizza, it is delivered along with the promotional coupons. These coupons can push the customer to avail them within the time limit. He may go on to distribute it among his friends or use it up for his upcoming office get-together. Hence, these coupons aimed at an already existing customer generate more business or more leads.
The strategy here should not be how to provide coupons but how to capitalize on their distribution and use. The biggest requirement for the success of coupon campaign is to target the right customers at the right place and right time. Distributing cosmetics coupon outside the hospital premises is not a good idea at all. Many of them will just hit the trash box. Instead, giving away coupons for famous shirt brand in the college campus may turn 90% of leads into potential buyers. The point here is to strike the right opportunity when it comes your way.
Coupon Marketing: Traditional versus Digital
There can be quite a debate over whether traditional or digital couponing is the best. Both have their own advantages and drawbacks, but a successful business must embrace both of them.
Traditional print coupons are considered the best even till date. Hence, you are not limited to the promotions for only those who can access the internet. Moreover, it gives the consumer a good feel to actually see, touch and hold the coupon in the hands. One can fold it and keep it in the wallet to use when required.
But, the importance of digital advertising cannot be ignored at all. Mobile is the unbeatable trend of today’s business market and can be exploited to reach the vast base of target leads. Digital coupons can be retrieved and presented at the shopping. SMS feature allows the consumers to carry their coupons with them without even the risk of losing them. Vouchers, e-coupons and promo codes are some of the great ways to reach both offline and online consumer database.
Other ways open to coupon marketing are via social media, i.e. blogging, survey bonus, Facebook Fan Pages, etc. Associating with complementary product companies allow you to exchange coupon distribution for the benefit of both. These modern techniques offer a great incentive to preserve offline and online visitors.
